Who we are
Hotel De Gulden Waagen (Waagen Hotel Group), trading as B&B De Gulden Waagen (sole proprietorship), KvK 64637573, Lange Hezelstraat 75 A, 6511 CD Nijmegen, info@waagenhotelgroup.com. We are responsible for processing your data.
Which data we use
- Booking and staying: your name, contact details and booking details, to arrange your stay. Hotels in the Netherlands are required by law to keep a guest register.
- Paying: payments go through Mollie, or through the booking site where you booked. We keep invoices and payment data for as long as the law requires (7 years).
- Contact: if you call, email or message us, we use your data to reply. We are not obliged to answer every message.
- Booking sites: if you book through a booking site, that site passes your data on to us. Booking sites do not always forward everything, and messages sent through those sites do not always reach us. We are not responsible for that; the booking site is itself responsible for your data.
We do not keep data longer than necessary.
Cookies and similar technologies
A cookie is a small file that a website stores in your browser. This website also uses your browser’s storage (local storage and session storage); the same rules apply to it. We divide everything into four categories:
- Necessary (always on): remembers your cookie choice and your language choice, and makes the booking window work. That window comes from our booking service (Lighthouse/Cubilis) and may use its own technical cookies needed to show prices. No consent is needed for this.
- Statistics (only with your consent): Google Analytics 4, to see how the website is used.
- Marketing (only with your consent): Google Ads conversion tracking, to measure whether our advertisements lead to bookings.
- External media (only with your consent): the Google Maps maps under Parking.
On your first visit we ask for your choice. Declining is just as easy as accepting, and the website works either way, including the booking window. Scripts from Google only load after you have given consent; before that, nothing is sent to Google Analytics or Google Ads. With your consent we also measure whether someone clicks a booking button (including in the booking window) or the button to call, email or WhatsApp us. We do not see the content of your booking or message. We store your choice only in your own browser. After 12 months we ask again.
Changing or withdrawing your choice. Click Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. There you switch each category on or off; withdrawing is as easy as giving consent and takes effect immediately. If you withdraw consent, we delete the Google Analytics and Google Ads cookies on this website. You can also delete cookies yourself via your browser settings.

These durations are the providers’ defaults; your browser may shorten them.
Google Maps. The maps under Parking come from Google Maps. As long as you do not allow External media, we do not load them; the map area then shows a Show map button. If the map does load, Google receives your IP address, your browser data, the address of the page and the Google cookies you already have, for example because you are signed in to Google. Google can then link your visit to your Google account. The link Directions via Google Maps is an ordinary link: nothing is sent to Google until you click it.

Who we share data with
Only where necessary: our booking engine (Lighthouse and Cubilis), Mollie for payments, Google (email and, with your consent, Analytics, Ads and Maps), Meta (WhatsApp), Cloudflare (hosting of the website), our accountant, and the authorities where the law requires. Some of these parties are outside the European Economic Area; Google, Meta and Cloudflare are certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct or delete your data, restrict its use, object to it or have it transferred, and you can withdraw consent at any time. Email info@waagenhotelgroup.com; we reply within a month. Data we are legally required to keep, such as invoices, cannot be deleted sooner. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority.
Changes
We update this statement when our way of working changes; the date at the top shows which version you are reading. This statement is available in Dutch and English; if they differ, the Dutch text prevails.
